The Tamarind, Sentul East?
Yesterday on my way to my good friend's house in Sentul, i came across the now completed Tamarind (Asam Jawa i think in malay) in Sentul East. When it was launched late 2003, i thought its a good apt to buy. The price is not too bad, in the low 200k, freehold i think. OK sized 1100++ sq ft. Typical layout, with no corridors & balcony so bigger living/dining/bedroom space.
On the flip side, i just hate the area. The tiny Jalan Sentul serving the apt is very often congested! The neighbourhood is definitely a place i'd avoid. There is an abandon condo just behind the Tamarind... that would provide a perfect view eh? NOT! Most owners hang out in Realestate.com.my Forum and they say that the swimming pool is leaking big time esp after heavy rain fall. Someone said the there is a mini waterfall in the parking lot! Scary lor...!
From the photo i took, could not help but to notice the Tamarind's light ash grey exterior paint resembles that of an old run down soviet republic's office block. So dull and boring! Though the whole grand 'sentul raya' vision of YTL does sound err.. grand, i doubt it will look half decent during my lifetime...
Adam..just want to ask u..
how come so many people have problem with that area?

entah laa..., not too sure. nothing interesting la that erea... and so over priced! take a look at The Maple = outrageous! The Saffron pun i think is gonna be expensive. Another project around that vacinity is The Rivercity... expensive and has the muddy, dirty, smelly Sg. Kelang view... who would buy it?! its beyond me... hehehe :-)

I'm a proud residence and all the sayings are just a myth. Minus the traffic congestion which is still bearable (compared to the Keramat and Jalan Ampang's nightmare), it's a wonderful residence. Great maintenance and superb amenities. No complaints!

Good for you! Perhaps the bad things i read in the Forum has been said there by non-tamarind owner just to made it appear worst... yeah, Ampang and Keramat are both a nightmare too! luckily there is the LRT station there...

Of course! Was comparing Tamarind and Seri Maya of Keramat before I made the property purchase. With the price Tamarind now increase of almost RM40,000 more, Seri Maya is still struggling to get buyers! Seriously...

err... Lomew, i think that is not accurate. Tamarind can only be compared with Jelatek@Seri Maya... which is all SOLD long time ago... the price for Jelatek@Seri Maya has gone up at least 80k!!! a typical Jelatek unit was SOLD at 180k-200k, a friend bought one from the 1st owner for 290k! thats almost 100k appreciation there! Lanai@Seri Maya is also 100% SOLD already. Havanna@Seri Maya is in a different league because the price starts 270k and above compared to Tamarind which is only around 200k. The Havanna@Seri Maya is like 70% SOLD. The latest one Savanah@Seri Maya starts from 290k and i think is like 50% SOLD i guess... Seri Maya actually consist of 4 different development.

Another owner of Tamarind here and agree with Lomew. Very happy with the things here so far.
I bought my unit at 200k 3 years ago and some agents called and quoted me about 280k a month ago.
