... el-cheapo part deux?

hehehe... i am renting a place together with some friends, so, i try not to buy expensive home appliances since i will not be the only one using it... and lagi murah lagi senang nak minta yg lain bayar skali.... since its cheap...!

i bought a cheapo LG top loading semi-autimatic 8kg washing machine. the thing is huge!!! and it only errr... rm 520 only!
inclusive of delivery!

i got it from harvey norman @ ikano power centre. i kinda like this new shopping complex. the parking is cheap! only RM1 for 3 hours?! subsequent hour is 50sen! or free first 3 hours if u spend more that rm10 in IKEA.

fatbastard suggest trying the hot dog in IKEA cafe, near the checkout cashier. i went there for a bite thre after buy the washing machine, and after a pit stop in ACE hardware to buy some hose adaptor, tap washer, cloth line, and some other hardware stuffs. let me tell u of the hot dog or sausage. it is how a boiled sausage shold taste like. unlike the typical malaysia hot dog, FRIED till crispy, oily, brittle and bone dry, the ikea sausage is tender inside, juicy, soft, with an almost 'pop-in-your-mouth' effect since the outer sausage casing is pretty elactic and tight!!

and it is taken with a good quality ketchup... let me first talk about ketchup... a kecthup should ;

1. has a thick consistency
2. be dark red in colour
3. kinda tangy sour taste never sweet!

some ketchup made in malaysia are just wrong.... they are made with too little tomatoes and too much SUGAR and water!!???
the ketchup in IKEA is great.... but the best thing is yet to come.

fatbastard mentioned of the mustard, though i am not too crazy of mustard, it is however needed to spicy up the sausage a little... mustard is an aquired taste i suppose...

for me the highlight of the whole sausage experience is the 'green thing' as refered by fatbastard. which actually is sweet relish. i absolutely love this sweet pickled relish!!! it is quiet expensive here, and not too many people can appreciate it!

a typical hot dog should ;

1. boiled sausage
2. steamed bun
3. eaten with mustard, relish, and ketcheup
4. if u like some chopped onion....

the IKEA sausage is how HOT DOGs should be... or as i remembered it to be when i was abroad...
and one more thing... the sausage and a glass of soft drink will cost u only RM3.50
the price is incredibly wallet friendly! go give it a try.....

now i'm left with one more thing to try in IKEA is their salmon... which is under RM10... this is terribly cheap! i don't understand why other restaurants would charge some much more and get away with it!!???

...el-cheapo brand X air-cond?

so, this is the deal... a few days ago i went to TESCO Mutiara Damansara and bought this really cheap 1hp air-cond. Made in Malaysia,

brand --> MINOYA.
price --> RM539.

i have nothing against things made in Malaysia, in fact i like it coz its cheap. if i waited for Tesco to deliver the unit to my house it will take around 1 week, i cannot wait. last week it was pretty hot at night. i was restless and having difficulties to sleep. i need the aircond soon. so i took the unit with me. the next day i called up someone to install the aircond.
installation --> RM130.

after drilling holes through the wall and mounting the unit as well, they found out the the compressor or the outdoor unit is faulty! it need to be exchanged. i called up Tesco and they want me to send back the unit for replacement coz its still with in 7 days.

total price -->RM669.

even though it is very very cheap... the total cost is so much more than that... the agony, the frustration, the waiting, the phone calls, the travelling cost back and forth Tesco. i am only exchanging the unit today. and hopefully i can call up the person to reinstall my unit FOC of course! i am not gonna pay a penny more!

if all goes well, i'll be sleeping in errr... 23 degree celcius tomorrow night! no more nyamuk! yippy!!!

btw, talking of cold weather... i went to the snow house in genting highlands last weekend. do you know that they kept the place at a bone chilling -6 Celcius? yes... minus 6!!!

grrr.... even in UK it rarely if ever, goes below freezing point!!! in nothern US/Canada and continental europe below 0 is a common sight in winter. at first while waiting in line for the tickets i was notified that its -6 in there. i never ever thought that i would really be -6 C! i refuse to wear their thick winter jackets they provide, i had my Spring jacket on, instead. i thought that would suffice.... but no..... it was Cold.... bitterly cold!

the experience brought up loads of memories, good and bad. the air u breath in would feel pretty sharp and crisp. that reminds me so much of winter. most people that has gone throught winter would agree with me that, winter time is only a happy time when the snow comes down for the FIRST day. it is normally a depressing time. sad, dark, gloomy, wet, cold, slippery... i would rather stay at home and order take outs.

the worst that happened to me during winter is being snow-bound in Canada! stuck at home... i opened up the front door and snow is high up to my waist and i cannot go out!!! its really scary,... UK do not generally get much snow... esp in england. but in Canada... better watchout! i had gone through this once... and it is not a pleasant experience.

the coldest temperature i've gone through is -25 Celcius it was some where on Mt Blanc, trapped during a blizzard! no no no... not gonna go through that ever again. i love the tropics! i love Malaysian weather... just that we could with a little less rain! right? but generally we have great weather here...

to you guys that have yet to experiance winter, its something that you might wanna go through ONCE in your life time, just stay in Canada(they hv proper white winters) for a month or at least 2 weeks, preferably during Christmas and New Years, and see what its all about! or just pop by to genting snow house and just for RM13 u can get a sneak preview on how winter time would feel like...
