SAP dinner?

Yesterday went to SAP annual appreciation dinner in JW Marriot. Everything about last night was wrong :
1. wrong event organiser - so not professional! cannot handle the crowd, late dinner, speech too long!
2. wrong hotel - marriot? urgh.. puhleees! just leave this hotel to the kiasu singaporeans.
3. wrong food - dry taste-less fried meehoon, ikan jeket (pieces of fish with its scales still intact!)
4. wrong show - some showgirl lip sync show with a weird tribal dance on chinese background music?!
5. wrong door gift - a USB mug warmer? <-- seriously, no one needs this!
6. wrong prizes - a RM50 Parkson voucher? SAP is so cheap!

The only thing 2 things I enjoyed last night was :
1. my old banking colleagues
2. harith iskandar - one funny guy

verdict = 2/10 - Pathetic

The 2 points are from meeting old colleagues and harith iskandar. The rest is all pretty bad! SAP is such a cheap company! They should learn from Winncor Nixdorf Annual Appreciation Dinner! They never ever fail to impress me! These people know how to say thank you for supporting them and they definitely know how to party!

Mukhsin?

This movie brings back memories. My childhood memories. Nothing too heavy, nothing too steamy/provocative/controversial. It is quite realistic, not another one of those happily ever after tales, though i thought the mukhsin's elder brother could have made more sense, since his part was not elaborated enough. I fail to grasp how his relation with his mother whom later died and the grand parents got to do with the whole movie. Its worth recommending to be watched.
verdict = 7/10

Movie night?

Tonight gonna watch Mukhsin. I hope its good. Personally I too have gone through this puppy love phase.

kindergarten = this one girl loves collecting stamps, so i stole some of my older sis' collection and gave it to her. i handed it to her behind the classroom door and gave her a kiss. i was pretty advance for a 6 year old!

standard 6 (12 years old) = i gave my girlfriend flowers... but instead of real roses, i gave her my mom's crystal/glass flowers (bunga kaca). i told her that the glass flower will last forever like my feeling towards her. kekkekee...

Its so funny to think of it now...
In primary school every young lady teacher will be warned by the headmaster of me. I have a habit of kissing teachers and girls. such a casanova I am!

Basically till now I simply love to kiss, is that such a big crime?

DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE?

Anyone going to watch Mozart's last opera? The Magic Flute? Not the whole opera but selected excerpts in a concert form. I wonder if the lead soprano will attempt Die Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen?! interesting....

For more info do go to KL PAC here quickly, its 22-25 March 2007 only!!!

***updated***
Ok bought my tickets for the opening night show. 8.30pm 22 March 2007. I've always wanted to see a malay soprano girl... a good one. I hope this Irma Lailatul makes the grade. I will write a review after the show.

***updated again after the concert***
The cast,
from left last row -Peter Ong (as Tamino), Chong Kok Ting (music director), John Tan (as Sarastro), Irma Lailatul (as Pamina)
from left 2nd row -Janet Lee (as Papagena & 2nd Lady), Kho Mei Ling (as 1st Lady), James Long (as Papageno)
*not in pic - Tan Sin Sim (Queen of the Night), Wang Dixia (3rd Lady)

To me the highlight of it all, is Irma Lailatul! She is a superb Pamina! Controlled, tender, delicate, smooth and ahhh... so beautiful! Her highlights :
1. Bei Männern (duet with Papageno)
2. Ach, ich fühl's (breaks my heart listening to this one... so sad..)

Another cast worth mentioning is the James Long as Papageno. His voice is well rounded, full bodied when at first i do wonder if he could sing the part! He is a delightful baritone. And his dynamics works very well with Irma's (Pamina).

The rest of the cast are ok. The queen of the night makes a decent attempt but still ok. The threee ladies is quite good, their harmonics sounds good! I do not understand why Malaysia do not have a better tenor other than Peter Ong? I felt like we only have 1 tenor in Malaysia and it is Peter Ong. The problem is that he is not even that good to begin with!? Gosh... what to do! U just can't have it all right?

Its quite weird to watch Die Zauberflote in English, but even weirder when there's a narrator cracking jokes and makes funny voices?! Still Irma Lailatul and James Long made my day. I truly felt the RM40 is well spent.

verdict = 7.5/10

It's format is great for opera newbies, but quite weird so a seasoned opera fan. Still Pamina and Papageno's performance makes it all worth while - MUST SEE!

I do hope Irma Lailatul and James Long would do a concert with the 2 of them. So they could do solo pieces and duets. I would pay anything to watch/hear them belt out bel canto arias!!!

Family Lunch aka 1st house warming!

Did the whole open house last Saturday, 2 days ago. I think it is a complete success! Alhamdulillah. Everyone is very pleased with the flat and food. I had a western set lunch menu.

Appetiser = Chicken+Mushroom Soup and Steamed Potato Bread

Main Course (HOT) = Black Pepper Fish Fillet and think chunky chips aka fries.

Side Dishes (COLD) = Potato and Egg Salad, Coleslaw, Pasta + Crab Salad.

Desert = Fruit Salad (Watermelon, White and Yellow Honeydew) with Banana, Nut and Strawberry rippled ice cream plus coffee.

Drinks = Iced Cold A&W Root Beer or Diet Coke for the ones on a diet.

I made the soup and deep fried the fillet and chips the same day. the rest was made the day before. still some final touches to my living/dining room area left to do. i have turned my balcony to an alfresco dining area that will seat 4 people. my main dining table can seat 8 people.

When is the next open house? Still thinking...

300 the movie?

i watched 300 in GSC last night.

all i can say is, i should have brought along a pile of dirty laundry last night! coz i surely know where to scrub 'em clean!

i have never ever seen so many rippled abs in my life. nothing can top that, not even in a porno movie! everyone's abs scluptured so perfect. even the old spartan politicians have rippled abs!

yes, the computer graphics is nice
yes, loads of blood and gore
yes, violence a plenty
yes, xerxes looks like rupaul on steriods

yes, the spartans name are so long and complex i can't even recall any. perhaps its because i was temporarily blinded by their abs?
yes, the storyline is rather non-existance

verdict = 6.5/10

1st house warming?

Yeah, I've set the date for the very first house warming lunch. Its on Saturday 17 March 2007. Around noon. And it is only for family only... sorry guys family first la. My dad needs to baca doa sikit, and then we all have lunch. Will buy nasi beriani I think. I am not gonna cook!

There are still a gazillion things to do/clean up in the apt. I hope I can finish it all on time.
Sigh... mati ler...

Good news, the kitchen cabinets turn out very very nice. I am extremely pleased by the outcome of the IKEA kitchen cabinets. The installer is very professional and very meticulous.

Things to do assemble/fix/install:

1. my arco lamp
2. a huge wall poster/covering
3. wall of mirrors
4. potraits of the kids sean and qaseh
5. the Quran verse needs re-framing
6. place the shaggy carpet
7. sean and qaseh needs a bath
8. and yet so many other things.....
