...masakan Minang @ Sari Ratu?
some friends and myself went to the Sari Ratu Grand Restaurant in the Bukit Bintang area. we had Nasi Goreng Istimewa which was really, fried rice, fried egg (done over n hard - i hate it this way!!! i only eat my fried eggs sunny side up please!), a fried local chicken (ayam kampung), 2 pieces of satay (or they call it dua tusuk satay). we made fun of the word tusuk or tusukan all night. the waiter was cute, friendly and yes indonesian.
i've been to sumatera a few times. mainly padang and bukit tinggi. i can trace my roots from this side of the world... i am an almost pure minang blood... with a hint of arab from my dad... so i am really used to the food. the food here is pretty authentic laa... all fried in coconut oil, all free range stimulant free chicken fried till dry to the bones... loads of people like their fried chicken to be tender and moist inside... we like it hard and crispy. the dendeng belado (fried beef with chilli) is nice... just as it should be, HARD & CRISPY! hehehheee.....
i forgot to order they favourite vegie... singkong (kangkong) and sambal hijau (fried green chilli paste).... they are nyummy. not too sure if they have them. someone ordered a young coconut which turns out to be pretty old coconut so the flesh is too hard and thick to be scooped out of the shell!
ok the food was pretty authentic minang i suppose. kinda pricey approx. RM 20 per head or at least RM 15. i heard the dendeng in Natrabu Restaurant is not as good. i hv yet tried it there. i'd go here for a minang food feast albeit pricey.
and what happened to the waiter? he was hitting on my date all night long. trying to get my date's number or trying his best to pass his number to my date. In the end he gave his number to my date and passed it to another of friend of mine who is currently single. is that supposed to be good food and great service?! hehehe... i think NOT!
